This Annual Report covering the period July 1, 2019 – June 30, 2020 has been prepared to fulfill
the statutory obligation under the Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services Act, 2008. The
Section 17 of the Act tasks the Board of Governors (BOG’s) to submit to the Parliament Annual
Report containing the activities of the Institute during a year. The Report shall also highlight the
objects of the Act achieved by the Institute and shall also give a picture of the finances of the
Institute. Section 11 (e) of the Act assigns the function of preparing the report and its submission
to the Board of Governors (BOG’s) by the Executive Director. The Section 7 (k) empowers the
Board to approve and submit Annual Report of the Institute to the Parliament.
The Report briefly illustrates the activities and accomplishments of the Institute during the year
2019-20. During the year in focus the Institute achieved its various objectives under the guidance
of the BOG’s.
To realize the Institute’s mandate the Senate and the National Assembly provided generous
financial resources in the light of the PIPS Act, 2008. Equally important were the financial
contributions made by the Provincial Assemblies of Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab
and Sindh to expand the Institute’s activities to the provinces. As a result the Institute has
established well-functioning satellite offices in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta.
